Catch Vancouver’s 10-day fringe theatre festival in the idyllic Granville Island neighbourhood for some of the quirkiest shows you’ll see all year. There’s never been a better time to support indie theatre, so make sure to catch The Coveted Wife of East Van, a romp through a new-age artist’s questionable dating choices (Sept. 11 – 19, Picnic Pavilion); A Toast to Prohibition, a musical revue of prohibition-era standards in celebration of its 101st anniversary (Sept. 10 – 19, Performance Works); and Everybody Knows, a one-woman performance art piece set to the songs of Leonard Cohen (Sept 11 – 18, Revue Stage).
